finger lickin' good

put myself in to a food coma with A,B on sunday morning...was worthless the rest of the day but it was WELL worth it...check it out, first time trying it and the blue kool-aid was mine ;)

btw - in the background are cheese/onion eggs, macaroni&cheese and grits with a mound of butter on top. A and i split the #1 (KK's) and it was plenty for two people at only $13!

sand-wich-club

not sure why the name is written this way...maybe just to be different?...but it's a great place with nice owners and a bright yet cozy feel...homemade pesto and home-smoked meats, tons of sweet and savory crepes and paninis that are not greasy.

btw - one sandwich is huge...enough to split or make two meals out of it!

fortune?

got a fortune cookie at dinner with my dad this week and it said "digital circuits are made from analog parts."

??????????????

i think it might have meant that something complex is made from simpler parts, but i would rather have picked the one that said "you are going to get a job next week and you will be happy in it and you will be paid handsomely." ;)

revised theory

so they say money can't buy happiness...but while i was riding my bike home from work one day last year, i came to intensely believe that it actually can because...

  • it helps you pay bills and have a place to live
  • it helps you take care of your body and have food
  • it helps you to not work someday if you choose
  • it helps you with your interests like travel, photography, calligraphy, cooking or tennis that all cost a little bit to do or learn more about
  • it helps you help others that you don't know
  • it helps you help others that you do know

...and plenty of other things besides having 'things'. there's nothing wrong with 'things' and i like my things just like the next person, but they aren't what makes me happy. guess it helps to really reflect on what does make you happy related to money and how you are going to use it in your life...because we're never too old to be responsible with it as well. can't wait to be employed and put together a master savings/investing plan to outdo anything i've ever done in the past!

reminds me of this tank top i have and will never stop loving that says "forget about the joneses" across it...whenever i have worn it i catch people processing the message and i chuckle to myself and wonder what they are thinking...sometimes they even give the thumbs-up or make a comment, like the older man in a store the other day ;)

seamstress?

saw this online the other day and thought "wow!" this girl is dedicated, talented and creative and i can't believe she can turn a mumu into a shirt for going out at night..for ONE dollar...pretty cool to see what she comes up with every day!

new dress a day

reading list

finished "the last lecture" by randy pausch and really enjoyed the life lessons
...because i stopped reading "the stuff of thought" by steven pinker since it was like studying even though it was interesting
...and then someone gave me "why men marry bitches" by sherry argov and i am laughing and relating and skipping around to different sections and laughing again
...but i still want to be reading "the life of pi" by yann martel because everyone including K who gave it to me says it's good
...and i am one-third through "are you kidding me? why you fail to gain employment" by andrew byers since he gave me the book last night at an information session (on another topic!)
...so it has been gratifying to have a reading list once again and to get busy on it! now the trick is to stay awake in bed while reading at night long enough to turn a few pages...LOL

tidbits

when to go organic plus other information

"no impact man" movie

living buddha, living christ by Thich Nhat Hanh
"people sacrifice the present for the future. but life is available only in the present."

whisky stones...how cool are these? especially since i hate melted ice cubes watering down my drinks...except my glass of water, of course ;)

A's been doing this for years...it's about time i give it a try

btw - from william henry channing
"to live content with small means;
to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion;
to be worthy, not respectable;
and wealthy, not rich;
to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly...
to listen to stars and buds, to babes and sages, with open heart;
await occasions, hurry never...
this is my symphony."
