down at the farm

singh farms is a place we all should have known about . . . my mom found it this fall and now it's like knowing where a secret treasure lies and sharing its location with others so they can go find it themselves and take a little piece of it home with them

rows and rows of veggies, plenty of shade, winding paths, chickens, turkeys, goats and beehives (out of sight), stumps of trees made into benches and chairs, little fires and sitting areas on the path, open air cooking in an adobe oven mounted atop an old tree trunk, gorgeous displays of veggies and honeys and cheeses and breads and spices and sweets and on and on . . . you can buy a fresh meal made with whatever is freshly harvested that day for $5 and we had the best eggplant sandwich and sweet chili ever, the honey is to die for and is unique to the farm's crops, and free loofahs from the garden (never knew how a loofah came to exist!)

a real sense of what it would be like to grow and create your own food on your own piece of earth . . . a real treasure in the valley and can't wait to have a small garden of my own someday
