october - december rewind

K's baby shower for #2 and it's a girl!!! always so touching to see people gather to celebrate a new life and an extended family

bought my first new car - no, truck - no, SUV - ever and am loving it so much . . . never thought a vehicle could make one so happy but i am going to love it until it doesn't run and i have to push it. vroom vroom

had the opportunity (and the unexpected generosity of K's husband) to go for a nascar ride for K's bday - woo hoo!!! three exhilirating laps at around 125-140mph and had to wear a jumpsuit and helmet, had to dukes of hazard in to the passenger seat and there wasn't even room for your arms . . . couldn't believe the drivers do that 100s of times during a race and maintain that focus

drove up north to silver creek to fly fish with P for his bday . . . left at 3:30am for the 3-hour drive, saw elk on the side of the road in multiple spots and was awestruck by how large they are, heard elk bugling when we got to the creek, loved watching the sun peak and rise through the trees, checked out the tiny little flies like little pieces of art, saw ducks and a couple of snakes slithering across the creek, rainbow and apache trout. the fish were so colorful and glistened in the sun at the right angle, and they were all catch and release so we would pluck them out of the creek, carefully remove the barbless hook and turn them back into the water. soothing listening to the line swishing through the air had a picnic on a table under a tree with perfect weather and good conversation . . . fished a little more and caught a little apache when P set it up for me ;)

P's bday at flemings for ridiculously delicious steak and creme brulee

halloween at A's sister's house with decorations and treats galore, costumes required and catered bbq out of an old fire engine, rock wall and bungee jumping, haunted room off side of house . . . over the top! was jan from grease with the other pink ladies and did the bungee jump with L at the same time - ouch and fun at the same time with several flips and gut laughter!!

phoenix art museum with M and saw photos of the building of the bridge at hoover dam . . . incredible images captured by a citizen who then got permission to continue to chronicle the progress of this architectural and engineering feat . . . blows my mind that humans create what they create

car show with D and JD, watching them hover like little kids over toys and learning about the old cars . . . still love the chevy bel airs and the huge cars with wings and chrome, and crazy long bench seating

hit the fountain hills art show again but mostly for browsing and spending time with the cousins

went indoor go-karting with other cousins at thanksgiving and despite skidding and screeching all over the track, ended up with the fastest time (okay - only by fractions of a second) . . . got to hold fat babies with marshmallow arms too ;)

hiking papago with P and fishing nearby, and making a strange piece of art out of dried up palm fronds

extravagant thanksgiving at G&M's with two turkeys (a chipotle-brined and smoked one to die for), a ham, too many pies, stories, kids' science projects and a dog and cat that were both patient and desperate for thanksgiving nibbles

amazing christmas festivities and several parties with friends and families . . . so much generosity and love at the holidays just flowin' freely and that's what i enjoy the most. went up to payson for a women's holiday tea/fundraiser at B&L's church where each table was decorated by a different hostess . . . there was live entertainment telling the story of jesus and the men were our servers (i could get used to that!), and the snow fell all day. ended with a trip to J's work - a bullet factory - which was really a cool experience to see how a bullet is made. tons of loot from friends and family and ever so grateful for everyone in this life, at christmas time and always <3
