revised theory

so they say money can't buy happiness...but while i was riding my bike home from work one day last year, i came to intensely believe that it actually can because...

  • it helps you pay bills and have a place to live
  • it helps you take care of your body and have food
  • it helps you to not work someday if you choose
  • it helps you with your interests like travel, photography, calligraphy, cooking or tennis that all cost a little bit to do or learn more about
  • it helps you help others that you don't know
  • it helps you help others that you do know

...and plenty of other things besides having 'things'. there's nothing wrong with 'things' and i like my things just like the next person, but they aren't what makes me happy. guess it helps to really reflect on what does make you happy related to money and how you are going to use it in your life...because we're never too old to be responsible with it as well. can't wait to be employed and put together a master savings/investing plan to outdo anything i've ever done in the past!

reminds me of this tank top i have and will never stop loving that says "forget about the joneses" across it...whenever i have worn it i catch people processing the message and i chuckle to myself and wonder what they are thinking...sometimes they even give the thumbs-up or make a comment, like the older man in a store the other day ;)
